The forum is co-organized by ADB, IFAD and FAO and co-supported by USAID from 7-9 July, 2010 in ADB head office in Manila. Government representatives, donors, civil society, farmer organization and hundreds of private sectors were invited in the historical forum. The main goal is to explore new approaches to tackle the region's food security challenges.The forum put most attention and concern upon food security since the world population growth is very fast –that might be up to 9 billion by 2050.
The meeting was co-organized by IFAD and FAO at Linden Suite Hotel on 10 July 2010. Around 200 people joined the meeting whom included Mr. Thomas Price, FAO represenatative, Mr. Sana Jatta, country maneger of IFAD. Besides that were representative from AFA, IFAP, FNN, VNFU, CFAP, API, PAKISAMA, KPF, FFF, WAMPI, representatives from FAO, and representatives from Ministry of Agriculture of China and Laos. The representatives from Myanmar and LVC were absent.
FNN held a Board of Director (BOD) meeting in its office, PP from 12-13 July, 2010 which Mr. Uon Sophal is the facilitator in the meeting. Dr. Yang Siankomar and Mr. Pan Sopheap were there. BOD members from 11 provinces were invited. The meeting aims to share mutual information, reflect work activities from each province which have implemented so far and activity plan, budget plan for setting the district net and enact the internal work of some net.
July 04-10, 2010, From July 7-9, 2010, FNN President Mr. Uon Sophal, FNN Managing Director Mr. Pan Sopheap, and Mr. Lim Sokun Darun, CEDAC staff member, attended the Investment Forum for Food Security in Asia and Pacific, which was held at the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines. Hundreds of policymakers, development experts, and public and private sector representatives participated in this forum.
After a two-day strategic planning workshop held in Ping Tung, Taiwan, AFA farmer leaders and staff crafted the broad framework for their Strategic Plan for 2011-2015. Highlights of the workshop included an analysis of AFA’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), a review of its progress vis-a-vis its strategic objectives over the last five years (2006-2010), as well as its mission, vision, goals, and 8-point peasant agenda (now 9-point peasant agenda).
Having supported by EED Germany, in the late July and in the early August 2010 president, staff, director, and provincial BOD of FNN have held the activities regarding the spreading activities and organized district net leader election in 8 target provinces and 19 target districts.In each activity chief, vice-chief, member, association, cluster, SOSOR, chief village, chief commune, commune council, district governor, district council, and CEDAC's assistant
On 29 August 2010 Related-staffs of the project consists of Mr. Pan Sopheap, Mr. Chhong Sophal. Ms. Kong Sokchhoin and Miss. Hang Tarany discussed with Joge Pena recently arriving Cambodia, to better understand about activities of the process, management structure from local to national level, especially the process of the project.
A national workshop on leadership and financial management for FNN saving networks and young farmer leaders held on July 30‐31, 2010, at Sotheavy hotel, Takeo province. The workshop was co‐organized by CEDAC and FNN and co‐sponsored by FNF and EED (both sponsores are German foundations). Farmer and young farmer representatives, SOSOR’s network leaders from 6 provinces, representatives from FNN, CEDAC and two software experts were present in the workshop.
Phnom Penh, FNN office: In Farmer Net and Nature office on 5-6 August 2010 held the fourth Board of Director (BOD) meeting. The members of FNN, provincial representatives from 11 provinces (FNN target provinces) are invited to the meeting. Mr. Uon Sophal, director, was the facilitator for the meeting. The meeting aimed to discuss the net activity, promote the awareness of the advantages of organizing the district net and strengthen ability to the members of Board of Director.
